The WAYA Philosophy:

Throughout our various programs, WAYA endeavors to emphasize participation over competition, and education over performance. WAYA strives to ensure that all children spend an equal amount of time in practice and in play. WAYA coaches maintain a safe, positive and nurturing environment for all children where positive leadership and encouragement are given to each child in every WAYA program.

WAYA is committed to the principles of Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) and is against the "win-at-all-cost" mentality. PCA calls a positive coach a "Double Goal" Coach. A win-at-all cost coach only has one goal - to win. A positive coach shares that goal (to win), but has a second goal that is even more important - to use the sports experience to help young people to learn life lessons and gain positive character traits that will help them be successful throughout their lives.
