"Double Goal" Coach:

WAYA is committed to the principles of Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) and is against the "win-at-all-cost" mentality. PCA calls a positive coach a "Double Goal" Coach. A win-at-all cost coach only has one goal - to win. A positive coach shares that goal (to win), but has a second goal that is even more important - to use the sports experience to help young people to learn life lessons and gain positive character traits that will help them be successful throughout their lives.

Each year, WAYA hosts a PCA workshop for all WAYA coaches and parents. The focus of these workshops is to educate our coaches and parents on the principles of positive coaching. The next workshop will be held at WAYA date and time tba

Bottom line, we want to create a culture at WAYA where kids love to play the game. They look forward to practices and games as times when they will have fun. The joy they find in playing will last a lifetime.

Coaches' Packet:

Coaches' Packets are handed out at the coaches' meetings before the beginning of a season.  They contain WAYA procedures and policies that all WAYA coaches should know.  They also contain contact information for commissioners and directors, important dates, and drills that coaches can use during practice.

Each sport may have it's own specific rules in regards to team placement. Questions should be directed toward the League Commissioner or WAYA Program director.
